You are the guardian of a rural village somewhere in East Asia. Every night, you venture out to fulfill the final wishes of wandering ghosts and lonely spirits before they lose their minds and turn violent. You possess a special gift that allows you to see and communicate with them.

It’s summer, yet tonight feels colder than usual—it’s time to begin your work.

Different spirits appear at different times, and you use the ShiChen system to track the hours and prepare for each encounter.

• Hai (21:00–23:00): Night fully descends, and work begins. Many wandering ghosts emerge during this time—it’s a little frightening, but also exciting.

• Zi (23:00–1:00): For reasons unknown, the atmosphere always feels uncanny and unsettling at this hour.

• Yin (3:00–5:00): The night’s work draws to a close. Usually, no spirits remain—leaving behind a calm, peaceful silence.

Even though it can be terrifying at times, you still find joy in the work. You’re grateful to be the one who carries out this duty for the village.
